To obtain it, the sworn translator must physically prove his or her identity to a competent authority.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>What this means for your document:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Certified identity:<\/strong> You can be sure that the document has been signed by an approved translator who appears on a French court of appeal\u2019s list of expert witnesses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tamper-proof document:<\/strong>  Once signed, the PDF file is \u201csealed\u201d. It is no longer the courts that deal with them, but <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/apostille.notaires.fr\/accueil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">French notaries<\/a><\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>This reform is highly favorable to digital technology.  Notaries can now issue <strong>e-apostilles<\/strong>.  However, translators still have to go to the city hall to have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apextra.fr\/en\/how-to-legalize-an-official-document-and-its-sworn-translation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">their signatures certified<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When should you still opt for paper?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Despite its many advantages, the \u201ctraditional\u201d paper version sometimes remains indispensable.
