Wordfast Classic Intermediate


The training is devoted to optimizing translation memory (TM) and glossary management and using the BTM, VLTM, and MT to speed up your workflow and share TMs. Participants will also learn how to translate Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files and use other software applications that complement Wordfast (PlusTools, Werecat, Olifant, Intelliwebsearch).

Learning Objectives

Wordfast Classic Training

By the end of this training, you will be able to use Wordfast Classic to:
  • Translate MS Excel, Powerpoint and PDF documents
  • Create TM attributes to organize and manage your TMs
  • Run TM editor manual filters and special filters
  • Penalize translation units based on their attributes
  • Identify and skip over untranslatable text
  • Create and use blacklists and find & replace lists
  • Integrate machine translation into your workflow
  • Create a TM from legacy documents using alignment tools
  • Create a shared Very Large TM (VLTM) for collaborative projects

Practice using filters, practice sorting using special filters: merging memories, marking redundant entries, reverse source and target, rewriting in Unicode

Prerequisites - IT Requirements

Working knowledge of MS Word and fluent in English.
Have attended the Wordfast Classic Beginners course.
Trainees must bring their own laptop for the training with an installed version of Wordfast Classic. If you are having problems installing the software please contact trainer before the training day.
